Transforming operations – Ecosure and NetSuite
As arguably the largest provider of ecological services in Queensland, and one of the largest in Australia, Ecosure has an important role fulfilling their mission of improving ecosystems. By taking a genuine, personal approach to every project, they hope to explore flexible solutions that ensure great project outcomes, a preservation of the world’s natural brilliance, and safe and responsible ecological management.
Ecosure’s rapid expansion has seen them explode across Australia. They now have nearly 100 staff, plus a satellite unit in Vancouver, Canada. In 2015, they approached Liberate I.T. to help manage their transformation from an archaic and manual operating system to a new solution powered by NetSuite.
Why Ecosure chose NetSuite ERP
Liberate I.T. helped Ecosure implement NetSuite as a project management tool. As Ecosure’s Business Process Manager and Senior Environmental Specialist, Heather Richards’ role goes hand in hand with IT and management. She shares how NetSuite has ensured that their operations would allow them to deliver projects in a more equitable manner and further Ecosure’s growth.
As Heather explains, there wasn’t a clear ‘tipping point’ for Ecosure, but the growth of the business since 1994 meant that their legacy systems had started to show signs of strain. They’d been using Ostendo Operations Software, and while that had been the right choice then, the time was ripe for a change.
“The new Financial Offer for Ecosure had worked with NetSuite previously,” Heather explains. “So he was a big driving force behind the upgrade of our systems to the new solution.”
Ecosure became aware that their on-premises tools weren’t going to scale with the business effectively. By shifting to the cloud-based NetSuite, Ecosure would be able to consolidate operations across seven main Australian operations centres, and their Vancouver satellite office. They would then be able to rely on seamless operations and consistent communication between units.

NetSuite allows Ecosure to really get under the hood of their organisation and see how their total systems are operating – all in one package.

Ecosure has been on this journey since 2015, with each roll-out and implementation’s learnings being applied to the next leg of progress.
Integrated multiple currencies
Rather than having to run multiple systems, NetSuite natively allows the Australian division to communicate with Canada in their currencies in one operating system.
